White Offices with Windows

Sorry the blog has been a bit quiet lately, the holidays around here got a little bit crazy and I still haven’t recovered! Baking, shopping, traveling, shipping out tons of orders, getting married. (We decided to get hitched last minute while in Memphis visiting the fiance’s family for Christmas. More photos and details on that soon!)

We have also been house hunting. We’re looking in a very small area because of school districts, so its slim pickings this time of year. But that can’t keep a girl from dreaming of what might be when we do finally get the keys to our very first house! And the first room I will be worried about, naturally, is my home office. :)

I’m a huge fan of natural light and bright white walls.  Throw in a white desk and you’ve got a magical working space to decorate and play with that will make you smile all day long. Below are a few of my favorite white offices with white walls and windows with natural light.

Spotlight: Alexandra Von Furstenberg

A good, original design will always stand out—even if someone copies it.

Alexandra Von Furstenberg knows this experience well. She began designing innovative acrylic furniture for her home before realizing that other people would buy her creations. Her brand, Alexandra Von Furstenberg, LLC, launched in 2007 and her first collection was released in 2008.

Then came the copycats.

You may have seen other acrylic furniture around—ghost chairs, clear tables, and the like—but nothing is quite like these designs. Alexandra’s good taste makes sense; after all, her father is a billionaire who founded Duty Free shops and Diane Von Fursteberg used to be her mother-in-law. This woman is accustomed to class.

Alexandra worked for Diane Von Furstenberg as Creative Director, and then Director of Image, for 10 years. She worked to revitalize DVF’s wrap dress and update their overall brand before leaving the company to focus exclusively on home design.

While Alexandra’s first collection leaned on neon accents, her second collection takes on a darker, more smoldering color palette. And did we mention accessories? Alexandra’s line now hosts everything from vases to letter trays to bowls. (Hmmm… we think our acrylic pieces could match quite nicely!)

Squirrels in the Office

We’re a wee bit obsessed with squirrels over here. They’re just so darn cute. So like squirrels collect nuts, we’ve set out to collect some of our favorite paper and office-related little rascals. Enjoy!

Pretty sad to see summer go, but also super excited for sweater-weather and not feeling like a crazy person drinking my HOT vanilla lattes in the middle of a 80 degree day (up here in the Pacific Northwest, 80 degrees = heat wave.)  :)

Today I just wanted to share with you some of my favorite pieces and designers that I’ve found over the summer. Hope you enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!

Sweet and Sassy Baby Shower Cards

 Finding Just the Right Card

Who knew mini whales were the next big trend in baby decor?!

We’re quite obviously obsessed with finding just the right card for all life events, even if this means spending hours online or driving all over town to find that perfect message.  It’s a glaring fact that the perfect gift you found just doesn’t pop unless you also find the perfect card.

We don’t know about you, but for us, it seems like baby shower season is here and in full swing!  So what happens when you’re OCD about finding the right card, but all that’s within a 50 mile radius is the local Hallmark and Target?  Not only do you run the risk of not finding that perfect card, but you also run the risk of committing the party faux-pas: double carding with another attendee!

To avoid this potentially embarrassing/lackluster scenario, we’ve culled through hundreds of shops on Etsy to bring you a selection of sweet and sassy baby shower cards that promise to delight your guest of honor.  What do you think of our favorites here?  Have you found a favorite shop online for new baby cards?  Let us know!

Pssssttt!  Don’t forget the hostess gift!

We recommend one of our favorite sugar paper notebooks (gold-foil yet gender neutral) for your hostess to record the attendee’s and baby gifts to save time and prevent confusion when sending out thank-you notes!
